Where Winds Meet weapons

Where Winds Meet weapons are Martial Arts with distinct resources, range and roles, not a single ladder from weak to strong. Start with the feel you prefer, then pair two weapons whose Path, Inner Ways and gear effects support the same combat plan.

How weapons and Martial Arts work

A weapon name alone does not define a build. Nameless Sword and Strategic Sword are different Martial Arts despite both using swords; the same distinction applies to spear, fan and umbrella styles. Each Art supplies its own normal, charged and special actions, resources and Path relationships.

Your two equipped weapons should contribute to one plan: sustained damage, burst, control, tanking, healing or a deliberate hybrid. Test the complete skill loop in Path Tutorial or on a training target before committing limited upgrade materials.

Swords and fast melee weapons

Nameless Sword is a mobile, reactive starting option with tools for closing distance and attacking beyond immediate melee. Strategic Sword focuses more strongly on damage-over-time and bleed interactions. Pick between them by desired rhythm rather than assuming every sword uses the same stats and Inner Ways.

Infernal Twinblades reward rapid pressure, gap closing and combo execution. Mortal Rope Dart controls spacing by pulling or disrupting targets and has a higher mechanical burden. Both can feel spectacular, but missed sequences are less forgiving than a simple beginner rotation.

Spears and heavy blades

Heavenquaker Spear offers accessible area pressure and bleed-oriented attacks, making it a practical weapon to learn in crowded PvE. Nameless Spear supplies control and Endurance-related utility that can complement another demanding weapon. Stormbreaker Spear leans toward durability, crowd control and a group-tank role.

Thundercry Blade is slower and emphasizes shielding, survival and control. Choose heavy defensive styles when you enjoy deliberate timing and holding enemy attention; do not judge them only by a short damage test against an inactive target.

Fans and umbrellas

Panacea Fan is the dedicated healing choice for group support. Soulshade Umbrella adds healing and buffs while leaving room to swap to a damage weapon. Inkwell Fan instead rewards technical ranged control and careful combos, so the shared fan model does not imply a shared role.

Vernal Umbrella provides ranged pressure, control and attacks that can continue while you use the second weapon. Its distance management is useful, but close pressure still requires positioning. Match healing variants with support-focused Inner Ways and damage variants with the correct Path rather than mixing bonuses by appearance.

What is the best weapon?

There is no permanent best weapon across solo story, bosses, group PvE and PvP. Patch 1.7 changed several Martial Arts and related Inner Ways, demonstrating why an undated tier list expires. Evaluate a recommendation by game version, mode, skill floor, required equipment and the exact paired weapon.

For a beginner, favor a clear rotation and reliable defense. For group play, decide whether the party needs damage, control, tanking or healing. For PvP, use a current mode-specific guide because stagger, control and survivability values can differ from PvE.

A useful play-style comparison is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qGR_O2VDJQ. It covers Heavenquaker Spear at 0:52, Mortal Rope Dart at 2:27, Nameless weapons from 3:20, Panacea Fan at 6:23, Strategic Sword at 7:22 and later tank, support and umbrella options. It documents Version 1.3, so use it for feel rather than a current ranking. Official Version 1.7 balance notes: https://www.wherewindsmeetgame.com/news/official/Adjustment528.html.
