Story, side quests and encounters
The main story opens regions and major systems, so advancing it can unlock a blocked side quest. Side chains focus on characters and locations, while encounters begin near an NPC or world event and may disappear when their conditions are not active.
Track only the quest you are solving; nearby activity markers are easy to mistake for the objective. Compare the chapter, current step, and region in the journal, then open the map and place a personal marker near the edge of the highlighted search area.
Requirements, choices and rewards
Before starting a chain, make room in the inventory and speak to every marked participant. One skipped conversation can hold the next step. If an NPC is absent, check the time of day, finish nearby combat, leave co-op mode, and reread the quest condition.
Use the wording in the current client when making a dialogue choice; translations and outcomes described by older guides may differ. If a decision appears permanent, note the quest name and postpone the answer until you have checked the related journal entries.
When a quest will not progress
Return to the marked area and use inspection or Sense when the objective mentions tracks, an item, or a suspicious place. Stand close to the object, put away your weapon, and let dialogue finish. The next marker may require reading a note or speaking to a second NPC first.
If every condition is complete but the trigger still fails, track another quest, teleport away, and return. Restart the client and check recent fix notices next. Keep quest items and avoid repeating random interactions until you have confirmed the exact objective name.
