Background
Legend says Dugu Yuan, a master of the Well of Heaven, invented this technique. Despite his extreme shyness and reluctance to look directly at others, he could always identify anyone who approached him. His solitary years atop the wind-swept pavilions taught him to distinguish individuals by subtle sounds and disturbances in the air. This art, born from his unique perception, eventually spread throughout the jianghu.
